The Pros Of Having An In-Home Camera System

February 18, 2019

Do you have an in-home camera system? Have you ever thought about getting one?

Lots of people have them for a variety of different reasons. In this article we will outline the pros and cons of having an in-home camera system, specifically for pet owners!

Picture this, you’re driving to work and get to your office and suddenly wonder if you put that cake on the counter back in the fridge or if your curious canine is now having a fabulous feast! Thankfully, you set up that camera, so you open the app on your phone and see your pooch being the perfect angel that he is, sleeping on his bed (you knew he wouldn’t eat that cake!). This is one example of many great reasons to have an in-home camera system if you are a pet owner. Below, we list what we think are the top benefits of having a camera set up inside your home if you are a pet owner.

Pros of having an in-home camera system:

  1. You can watch your dog to make sure they are behaving.

  2. You can watch your dog when you miss them…and maybe even say hello, depending on the system you get (we all know that every obsessed fur parent would love to be able to do this!).

  3. You can settle your nerves if you have a bad feeling about the security of your home (fire, flood, intruder, etc.).

  4. If you have a pet sitter or dog walker, you can watch your fur baby having fun and living their best life!

  5. If your pet has a health condition, you can keep an eye on them and ask your dog walker/pet sitter to go over ASAP if their behaviour seems abnormal.

  6. If you are on vacation or away from home, you can watch your severely missed fur baby and make sure their sitter is spending lots of time with them!

The pros of having an in-home camera system definitely outweigh the cons. The only con we could find is the occasional report of the camera being hacked and watched by strangers online (super creepy, we know). However, if your primary purpose of having the camera is to keep an eye on your pet while you’re not home, you can simply disconnect the camera when you get home!

We highly recommend having an in-home camera, especially if you are a pet owner. If you are interested in getting one, but aren’t sure where to start, check out this article comparing eight of the best in home camera systems.

Good luck!
